[edit] Cray J932SE System at 757 Labs
[edit] Specs
- 32 vector processors
- VME chassis (not gigaring yet)
- Sun Sparcstation 5 SWS workstation on hand
- Missing hard drives
- Have Unicos 10.0.0.1 and 10.0.0.2
- Have Dynaweb and other documentation
[edit] Notes
- September 2011
- More progress in getting system online
- Modified j90initial.setup script
- Decrease 2 minute wait
- Had to run j90inutial.setup many times
- Issues creating ios0/ios1/ios2/ios3 files
- rlogin/telnet to IOS 1/2/3 , use mc and iostart commands on each after load
- j90initial.setup script is only talking to ios0, others aren't running when it runs
- Used info from cray-cyber re: missing file (will post here)
- Issues creating ios0/ios1/ios2/ios3 files
- Forgot about jconfig, ran that again on new install
- Moved all drives to bottom disk box, now ios0 sees all 4
- Had an error with there not being enough space, it was only seeing 2 drives
- Still isn't coming online
- CIT software fails on step 3, network pre-install script portion
- It's doing an rlogin to ios0, control-A to switch to Unicos
- Unicos has no response, it's not there or running.
- SWS workstation is missing the bootsys utility, along with others
- It looks like bootsys is used to load a ram image on the Cray from
- Unicos_exe dir on the CD media. Then CIT configs the network and
- from there the disks can be mkfs'ed and base system xferred.
- No sign of bootsys utility on the Unicos 10.0.0.1 or 10.0.0.2 CDs.
- j90help utility mentions a J90 Install CD for the SWS
- THIS IS INCORRECT! j90root.setup generates the boot_ram file
- Re-ran it and it worked!!
- j90root.setup has an error in it?
- config file is short 1 memory board. This might be cause of error
- from IOS about MEMORY= statement in config file
- Remove the sed -e "s;:;;" line.
- It removes one : from the memory board list, which is used later in the
- script to figure out how many memory boards there are. This throws it off.
- j90help utility mentions a J90 Install CD for the SWS
- Feb 2011
- Cray graciously donated 6 4GB SCSI disks!
- Drives arrived and were installed
- December 2010
- More research on Seagate firmware
- [to NetApp Disks]
- [who dumped Seagate firmware to disk]
- [[1]] Utility will download to Seagate drives
- More research on Seagate firmware
- August 2010
- Sparcstation boots
- IOS will load
- Unicos install is a no-go
- System doesn't see hard drives
- Germans say their 318 disks are Seagate WD's
- Disks have different firmware
- Need a utility to duplicate firmware
- Asked on Seagate forums [forum post]
- Asked on HDDGuru
- February 2010
- VME SCSI CARDs = Interphase
- January 2010
- Jody redid the chassis so the drive chassis is on the right
- Power drop is 2 x 25 amps @ 208 for main cabinet
- Power drop is 1 x ?? amps @ 208 for sub cabinet
- Not sure if it's 208 or 220 or 240 or what. Space is 3 phase
- Is there an issue with each cabinet sitting on different legs?
- UPS for unit would probably be really expensive. APC Matrix 5000 probably too small.
