[edit] About the Project

Members of 757 Labs have been working with the organizers of the HOPE conference for several iterations to provide video streaming and capture capabilities. The most recent participation was during The Next HOPE, July 16th - 18th 2010.

During The Next HOPE - July 16th - 18th 2010 - Ethan, Erik, Chris, and other members of the Lab descended on New York again to help out with the conference video.

  • Capture video on 18th floor for distro

  • Playback video in multiple points
    • 2nd floor Video Temple
    • 2nd floor something
    • 2nd floor hackerspace something
    • 18th floor main room
    • 18th floor sub room
    •  ??
  • Allow people to submit text on the screen
    • Ability to ban people
    • Ability to set color using ANSI codes
    • Ability to not get hacked
  • Allow schedule of movies to be played
  • Allow viewing of the AMD video project?
  • Some sort of easy management system for video playback
  • Play back captures from the day, at night

This project is finished.

All code has been archived. This includes:

  • Mods and scripts to startup VLC full screen on Linux
  • Configs to run VLC using the h264 decoder on the Acer ReVO
  • Streaming scripts

The problems during the event were not related to our system, but the svideo cables supplied by the event. They were not of bad quality, just were hire gear that had failed.
